Histórico
Josh Coalson lancou o FLAC em 2001 como uma alternativa de codec de audio sem perda livre e de codigo aberto. Tornou-se parte da Xiph.Org Foundation em 2003 e foi adotado por servicos de streaming (Tidal, Amazon Music HD).
